This is old tech, but not really bad tech. I’ve had a Cubis tank since it was first made and the tank and the coils both have some pros and cons. I keep it as my backup unit at this point, as its reliability is very good. Simply put, I’m using the same Cubis tank from when they were released and I’ve not needed to change more than a seal (spare supplied with the tank from Joyetech).
Pros: The coil can be used at very low powers, even wattages of ~12w for light users. Coil lifespan with normal e-juice is extraordinary. I get a ton of use out of these coils, or I did until I switched to nic salts. The salts are much harder on the coils, but I’m still determining how much.
The other pros are mostly related to the Cubis tank itself, as it’s a top fill / top airflow tank that legitimately doesn’t leak. Still, the coil was designed for the Cubis and earns some credit as part of the system.
Cons: Flavor. Darkening. Using the recommended wattage on these coils produces a burning cotton taste that only gets worse if the power is kept at that level. I run these significantly below recommended wattage because of this. I’ve not found a way to prevent these coils from burning the cotton at wattages over ~18w. It’s a real problem if you expect to make big clouds, but can be worked around.
The cylinder of the CUBIS tank is press fit / interference fit to the top and bottom plates of the tank. It’s possible to overtighten the chamber to the point where the coil PUSHES OUT the bottom plate of the chamber, spilling the juice everywhere. I put it in a vise and pressed it back together and it’s still working fine. That happened almost a year ago, so it’s 100% verified to not be leaking. Don’t overtighten the Cubis tank, but if this happens it can likely be fixed. It’s a bit of a design flaw, but the user also has to cause it.
The coil installation isn’t quite as clean as modern ones. They thread onto the throat of the atomizer, where as most modern ones just pop into place or use a simple bayonet twist lock. It’s not bad and it 100% works, but it’s a little slower and removing dead coils can be somewhat messy.
TL;DR: Should you buy the BF coils / Cubis tank in 2026? Not really, but if you have one then they’re worth keeping functional. As mentioned, I keep mine more as a backup these days. I did recently use it for several months while I was between newer hardware, but it doesn’t really deliver the same experience as a modern vape. I use it if that’s what I have available, but newer vapes are legitimately cleaner tasting and don’t usually burn the cotton in the coil at recommended power. It’s reliable and does its job, albeit not fully to a modern standard.

I’ve been using Cubis coils (0.5 and 0.6 ohm) with my Cubis tank for about a year, and am happy with their performance. I’ve tried ordering cheaper products from China, and find they’re hit-and-miss with quality and shipping time. I’m happy with my purchase from Canada Vapes; the coils arrived in fine condition quickly, and the price was good.

I rate the Cubis BF coils 10+++
They don’t burn my juice like other coils I have used in past.
I buy the 1.0ohm and with the Cubis tank the juice I run works amazing together.
It has taken my 2 years to find a tank and wick combo that works for my juice needs.
GREAT JOB JOYETECH. One huge fan of your Cubis tank and Cubic BF 1.0ohm coils.
